UPDATE ON THE NEWPORT BEACH GOLF COURSE
BY SUPERVISOR JOHN MOORLACH
Newport Beach Golf Course golfers should not be alarmed and should not lose sleep over losing the back nine holes of the course to airport uses. The John Wayne Airport Director has been encouraged by me to negotiate a lease extension at a fair market
value rent, as he should do for the airport, the FAA and the taxpayers. He has also been encouraged to review the lease with my office and we will be in touch with the local elected officials to make sure they are comfortable with the conclusion of the negotiations. Thank you for your interest in this important issue and have a Happy Holiday season.
This is a wonderful development that puts us on a path to extend
our lease so that the Back Nine will remain available to you and all of Orange County's golfers who enjoy playing at the Newport Beach Golf Course.
We are grateful to Supervisor Moorlach, and for his efforts on behalf of the Newport Beach Golf Course and you, the golfers who call this great golfing treasure home.
Finally, we should all extend our deepest thanks to Newport Beach Councilwoman Leslie Daigle, and to all the members of the City Council who supported her efforts in bringing this issue to the forefront. Without Leslie's leadership, the Back Nine would be just a memory.
